International Engineering Company
Part of the brief for an international congress for 1500 guests was to organize a party evening for all 1500 guests where they can mingle and experience the local culture. The evening should not be “stiff” but flowing with interaction and different points of interest.
Into Africa organized this event in the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town hiring the whole castle and incorporating all venues the Castle has to offer into the event. The theme chosen was a “Cape Malay Street Party” and for dinner all the different rooms were decorated in different style with different food and different entertainment. The food was served at food stalls with partially cocktail tables and partially seated tables in all rooms which created a flow in a way that all guests moved through all rooms throughout the evening – like a street party. After dinner the back courtyard became the main centre of focus with a huge stage set up and a band playing international dance music interrupted by a fire show on one of the roofs of the back courtyard. For guests not wanting to party or dance a separate area has been converted into a lounge with soft background music.
Financial Services Sector
Brief:
A Reward Programme for 250 employees of a large Financial Services Institution from the United Kingdom. The programme had to focus on one destination and needed to include a strong CSR element.
Programme:
Into Africa put forward Sun City as a destination since this Institution had already held a Reward Programme based in Cape Town. We focused on Sun City “and beyond” and included activities that could easily be incorporated en route and within easy reach of the Resort.
The group visited the Cradle of Humankind en route to Sun City. Refreshments were served from a marquee which was located in a Game Reserve and guests were given a warm African welcome by local musicians.
The group was taken on a game drive in the Pilanesberg National Park which is convenient to Sun City. Each delegate was given a beautifully branded and printed game viewing booklet to enhance their game viewing experience.
Delegates rolled up their sleeves for a Volunteer Day in which they built a house in the local township and did some much needed upliftment to the local school’s sports facilities. They even had enough energy to play soccer with the children from the school before heading back to the luxury of The Palace and a hot shower.
Their hard work was rewarded with a full day of picnicking and making the most of all the adventure sports available on the resort.
The Gala Dinner took place on the Observation Deck and guests were wowed by a performance by fire dancers, the production featured many amazing African animals creatively reproduced using life size wire animals. The Palace formed the perfect backdrop for an impressive fireworks display and guests could either chill out to live Jazz or boogie the night away at a private night club.
Civitas Education Conference
South Africa had been identified for the 2009 Civic Education conference of 270 delegates. Into Africa assisted Civitas in identifying and sourcing a conference hotel with only a six month lead time – the Westin Grand Arabella Quays in Cape Town. The strong partnership we have with local suppliers from transport companies to printers and restaurants ensured that everything ran smoothly despite unexpected late changes and additions to the programme. Pre and post tours were highly appreciated. The feedback from the Civitas team was unanimous – the best conference in all aspects over the 13 years the conference has run.
Direct Sales Cosmetics Company
The aspect which makes this cosmetic company interesting is that they travelled to Southern Africa 4 times within a period of 7 years. They initially travelled to Cape Town and followed this up with a safari to Phinda. Sun City followed and finally they went to Zambia and stayed at the Royal Livingstone. For them to keep returning speaks volumes of the success of each incentive. Importantly, they were able to return and have a very different experience each time within Southern Africa.
Golf Incentive - Tyre Company
A leading tyre company returned to South Africa for 3 consecutive years - again demonstrating the value, variety and success of the destination. This incentive demonstrates the true variety of options available within the destination. 3 Excellent golf resorts hotels provided incentives of such a standard that the demand for more was there. There are fantastic golfing options in South Africa which can be used as the basis of the incentive or simply as an optional day on a conference or incentive.
Young Presidents Association (YPO) - California Coast Chapter
This particular YPO programme demonstrates the range of experiences which can be built into an itinerary. The programme covered safari lodges in and adjacent to the Kruger National Park, Johannesburg, Victoria Falls and Cape Town. This was all made possible by the use of charter planes. It was not just the different locations but also the content that made this programme so special. Guests speakers, visits to townships and AIDS orphanages to grape stomping in the winelands gave added depth to the experience for all the participants.
International Association Meeting
A core requirement for an international industry association meeting held in Cape Town was for flexible post tours, given the nature of the location for the conference. This was achieved through promoting a range of options through a specifically designed website and attending to people's individual needs and requirements rather than attempting to channel people into one of a few pre-selected tour options. One of the drawcards which South Africa has to offer as a conference destination is this range of pre and post tour options.
Printing Company
An intense programme showcasing the best of Tanzania was requested for an international group of 60 people. Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara provided the safari experience and our partnership with CC Africa proved to be invaluable here. 3 Days relaxing on the white sands of Zanzibar completed the experience.
Insurance Company
An incentive company wanted to repeat their African incentive 10 years after visiting South Africa but with something different. Kenya provided the solution and the easy access into Nairobi from Europe allowed for a night at the historic Norfolk Hotel, before the short flight to Kichwa Tembo. 3 Nights in the Masai Mara provided a whole new safari experience with hot air ballooning and a Masai interaction.
Cement Conference
A cement conference organiser brought a conference to Cape Town. This was a real commitment to Africa as it was a departure from the regular destinations for this particular conference. It proved to be a real success drawing in strong local support as well as an improved level of delegates from Africa and the Middle East - demonstrating the value of Cape Town as a conference destination.
Advertising Company
The brief for this incentive was to find a place where the company could camp in the bush, initially on a participation basis but building up to a night of extreme luxury. A mobile tented camp was set up in a wilderness area within the Pilanesberg National Park. The camp was equipped for 90 people and included electric fences to deter any dangerous animals from entering the camp area. 2 nights under canvas included game drives within the reserve, team building and informative sessions on bush skills. The final night saw the group move out of the Pilanesberg into the Palace Hotel at Sun City for a night of true luxury and a memorable gala dinner.
The tented camps are a wonderful option for larger groups who want to build team spirit and want to keep everyone together during the safari stage of the incentive. Groups of up to 120 can be accommodated in luxury tents.
