Liliesleaf

Lilliesleaf

Liliesleaf Farm, the headquarters of Umkhonto we Sizwe and the site on which the Rivonia trialists were arrested in 1963, is a piece of every South African’s heritage. The exhibits are not static memories to a unique and pivotal period but are evolving testimonies that will enhance the visitor’s experience. As the research process develops and unfolds new information additions are made to the exhibits. The team is currently updating the following:

Liberation Centre: Content research for the Liberation Path, hardware research for the P. Map touch screens, map content and photo research.

Resource Centre:  Coffee table installation featuring six new personalities linked to the Liliesleaf story.

Manor House: Interactive table content focusing on the uniqueness and importance of Liliesleaf in terms of leadership and the liberation struggle, redeveloping the ‘Cabinet of Curiosity’  to include animation, progressive installation, lighting and additional audio and developing content and procuring period artefacts for the ‘Detectives in the Lounge’ Panel and improving visitor comfort with new  benches.

Outbuilding Rooms 2 - 5: Rivonia Trial exhibit in Room 5, improving and enhancing  visitor safety by installing glass panels into the foundation recesses.
